Nail Art: Blingy Rhinestones from Lady Queen

Hi babes,

I've got some blingy nail art today using some rhinestones from Lady Queen store. The particular ones I've used today are from the 300pc wheel.

In addition to the rhinestones, I received some wax pencils which came in very helpful for placing the stones on my nails, especially the smaller, more finicky ones.
Since I'd never used rhinestones before, I wanted to go all out with a super blingy mani. In hindsight, using rhinestones of all one size would have been better on the index finger. I wanted to go super girly and pastel, so I used Essie Borrowed & Blue and OPI Mod About You. For the silver accent nail, I went with OPI It's Frosty Outside and Which is Witch?
I stuck the rhinestones on using top coat, and I found that going over them with more topcoat to seal them definitely dulled their sparkle, so I wouldn't recommend it. I'm still pretty proud of my first rhinestone mani, and can't wait to incorporate these into more nail art!

Don't forget that you can use my code DRLC15 to get 15% off anything from Lady Queen! This is NOT an affiliate code and I do NOT earn any money from you doing so.

Swatch & Review: Sinful Colors Nirvana

Hey babes,

I've been in love with any lipstick/nail polish in taupe/brown lately, so naturally this little beauty caught my attention at Kmart the other day. Nirvana is described as a "smooth milk chocolate". I did find it looked more dusty & taupey in some lights, but that doesn't make it any less gorgeous.

I paired it with a feature nail of Essie Beyond Cozy, my favourite gold-toned glitter.
It applied easily in two coats, and wore incredibly well for 5 days without chipping. I'm a big fan of Sinful Colors as I think they're only around $5 here in NZ and come in some fantastic colors!

Have you tried any of these? What did you think?

NYX in New Zealand! Haul + Swatches

Hey babes,

NYX has recently landed in New Zealand (SO EXCITING!) and I snatched up a few items as soon as I could. I visited the stand at the brand-spanking-new Farmers on Queen Street shortly after it opened, and pretty much had to fight through a crowd of women to get these 4. Ok, not really fight but there were lots of other beauty addicts checking out the NYX stand, and every time I go back to check it out, it's been well shopped (meaning it's fucking empty).

I was clearly in a mood for nudes/browns when I got these - I'm definitely happy with my picks, though. I have a bunch of the other Soft Matte Lip Creams and a couple lipsticks, so I thought that I'd try something new with the Butter Glosses. The shades I grabbed were: Butter (Matte Lipstick), Abu Dhabi (Soft Matte Lip Cream), Praline, and Ginger Snap (Butter Glosses).

All of these have really lovely, sweet cake/gourmand scents except for the Matte Lipstick. It's just unscented.

Butter is quite pigmented and glides on quite easily. It's the lightest cool nude in my collection, and can sometimes be too light on me, and I like using the Butter Glosses to darken it a bit. Abu Dhabi isn't as patchy on the lips as it is here, and I was surprised by how much I liked it - I don't ever pick light, warm nudes like this one.

The glosses are really nice and pigmented enough to wear over anything, however I had forgotten how sticky and annoying they could be when you have long hair. I still adore them though, and will probably pick up a few more colors soon.

Did you pick up any NYX products after the launch?

Belated Holiday Nails featuring Colors by Llarowe + MaxFactor!

Hey babes,

Most of you probably know that I'm not really one for festive nails/nail art, but I thought I would at least try this year with a nice little layering combination. Unfortunately, the overall effect was much more subtle than I thought it would be.
Dirty Diana by Colors by Llarowe is a beautiful deep magenta holo with a SUPER strong holo flame. I topped it off with one coat of MaxFactor Fantasy Fire (aka Unicorn Pee). The holo effect overpowered FF's colorshift in strong light, but provided a subtle twist in the shade.

You can kind of see FF peeking through here!

Next time, I'll probably try FF over a different color like blue or purple.

Nail Art: Galaxy Nails

Hey babes,

I did these nails SO long ago that it's almost a 'from the archives' post! However, I'm super proud of them so I'm still keen to share with you guys.

This was my first attempt at galaxy nails, and I followed this tutorial from Lacquerstyle. I really want to try this again using different colors, or even a pastel galaxy mani.

Have you tried a galaxy mani before?
