Hey everyone!

Today I have some really luxurious products to show you – a mascara, liquid eyeliner and pencil eyeliner from Eye of Horus. I snagged these products when I was at the Beauty Expo and have just fallen in love with them! Eye of Horus originates from Australia, and their products are based on the ancient and long-wearing formulas of the Ancient Egyptians, using ingredient such as Moringa Oil and Carnauba Wax. They strive to provide non-irritating, long lasting, paraben & cruelty-free and luxurious products to women all over the world. The Eye of Horus (also known as the Eye of Ra, or the Wedjat) represents protection, royal power and good health – an aptly chosen sigil to represent a brand with luxury, product safety and high quality at the forefront of their product design.

The products are packaged in beautifully designed boxes with a gold and black motif, reflecting Eye of Horus’ Egyptian influence. They are also branded with the slogan “Awaken the goddess within” in a lush gold script. I love the design of the boxes with a wrap-around gold wedjat, it really adds that oomph factor! All products are formulated with sensitive eyes in mind, and remove quickly and easily with warm water.

Goddess Mascara

Ingredients: Carnauba Wax, Beeswax, Orzya Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax, Candelilla Wax, Stearic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Triethanolamine, Acrylates, Crosspolymer, Moringa Oil, Distilled Water.

The first thing that I noticed about the Goddess Mascara was its flexible plastic comb wand, which really helps with separation and definition of lashes. I found that lengthening and defining was really this product’s strong suit, as well as its ability to NOT clump after a few coats. I thought that the curling factor of this product was not as strong as say, Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express, but in terms of ant-clumping, length and definition, the Goddess Mascara WALLOPS Maybelline out of the park. This product also has brilliant durability – it didn’t flake at all when I wore it, and my lashes looked stunning throughout the day. The only thing that compromised its staying power were tears (they were happy tears, though!). Shown in the photos below is the Goddess Mascara applied to natural lashes after curling.

Nubian Brown Goddess Pencil

‘Matte deepest velvet brown pigments transform the everyday Goddess into an alluring Nubian Temptress with wild smouldering beauty. Waterproof formula glides on without smudging. Long lasting.’

Ingredients: Isododecane (emollient), Trimethylsiloxysilicate (emollient), Cyclopentasiloxane (emollient), Beeswax (emollient, formula thickener), Carnauba Wax (emollient, formula thickener) Candelilla Wax (emollient, formula hardener), Microcrystalline Wax (emulsifying, binding agent), Phenoxyethanol (preservative), CI 77491 (colorant), CI 77499 (colorant), Mica (colorant), Synthetic Fluorphlogopite (viscosity controlling/bulking agent), Tin Oxide (colorant), CI 77891 (colorant), CC 77491 (colorant).

This product comes in a dual ended pencil, one end with the pencil itself and the other with a smudger. This eyeliner applies like velvet. It goes on so smoothy, no painful eyelid tugging here! The color payoff is also amazing in 1 coat. Really quite impressed with this pencil – I have never used such a long-lasting eyeliner before. I personally use eyeliner pencils on my upper lid waterline, and almost every other product I have used has smudged/transferred to elsewhere in the eye area – not this though! I also used this super lightly on my brows to fill them in a little bit, by applying a tiny bit of the eyeliner, and using the smudger to disperse the product. Again, the only thing that challenged the amazing durability of this product were tears. Eye of Horus has eyeliner pencils in more amazing colors and finishes, I will definitely be acquiring and reviewing more! Shown is the pencil eyeliner (next to the black liquid liner) smudged and unsmudged in direct sunlight on my inner wrist/forearm.

Liquid Define Eyeliner

‘Amazingly easy to use liquid texta that draws a gorgeous black line on your lid, allowing for perfect definition. Dries almost instantly and won’t imprint on eyelids. Stays on all day or all night.’

Ingredients: Aqua, Acrylate Polymer, CI 77266, Laureth-21, DEG-40, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Methylisothiazalonine (9.5%)

This deep black felt tip eyeliner is what dreams are made of – seriously! It draws on the blackest black lines (thick or thin!) with ease and doesn’t leave little lines on your eyelids in case you blink before the eyeliner has dried. I have shied away from felt tip eyeliners for years due to discomfort of the felt tip and issues with dragging/pulling up product when going over it again. The felt tip is a great balance of firm but not hard on your eyelid, and soft enough to ensure flexibility and control without feeling like you’re painting your eyelids with a wet noodle. The product doesn’t ‘pill up’ either if you decide that 1 swipe isn’t opaque enough on your lids. I also found that this product has really fantastic durability, even over my bare eyelids which tend to become pretty oily through out the day. Shown is a quick makeup look using all 3 Eye of Horus products. If you follow me on Instagram, any photo you’ve seen of me lately with makeup has been these 3 products ๐Ÿ™‚
I also tested their removability, and whether they held up to the claim that they could be easily removed with warm water. They do, and quite easily – I recommend gently rubbing your eyes in the shower with warm water for a 5-10 minutes (or until you stop seeing product on your fingers), and then using your regular facewash afterwards. Using this method guarantees me a 100% makeup free face when using only these products!

Overall, these are 3 amazing products that I will continue to use in heavy rotation when doing my makeup. I love them so much in fact, that I will be hosting a GIVEAWAY sponsored by Eye of Horus – the details will be posted in an upcoming post, so keep your eyes peeled for that ๐Ÿ™‚

In summary, these products are high quality, cruelty-free, paraben-free, long-lasting, non-irritating and all round amazing. What else could you ask for? I hope you enjoyed this review (I think it’s my longest post yet!) and hopefully you’re as in love with the Eye of Horus products as I am! All of these products are available from the NZ Eye of Horus website, with free shipping nationwide!

Lexie xx
